This week has been pretty great! I had a wonderful birthday! Thank you for the packages, letters, emails, cards, etc.! You are a wonderful family! I loved everything! :) For my birthday we had a pretty normal day. District Meeting, district lunch, sign class, you know-- the good stuff. :) It was really fun. We also had an "ugly sweater party" for my birthday and the Elders here joined in. :) I've converted them. boo yah. We have Swensdays every Wednesday for those who would like to join in honor of the Swens.
We also had Stake Conference this week. Which was really great. The First Presidency asked that all missionaries attend the Adult Session as well as the Sunday session this time. So we got to go to Springfield two times. We rode with our Relief Society President and it was just a blast. However, I learned two very valuable things at the Adult Session. 1. Don't sit in the front. 2. Don't wear a name tag. hahaha. Our Stake President enjoys calling random people up out of the audience to bear their testimonies. And you know that wretched feeling when you KNOW they're going to call you up? Yeah, I totally had that. So I was prepping myself. Well, the Stake President got up with only five minutes left and I still hadn't been called. I thought I was clear. But then, he was like, "Actually, before we sing the closing hymn, I'd like to have one more testimony because we have such great Elders here." (my thoughts, "few, I'm in the clear.") But then he continued, "wait, I think we'll have a Sister share her testimony too," He looked down at me and squinted to read my name tag, "Sister Leavitt, will you share your testimony too?" (my thoughts, "not a chance." However, my body language spoke differently and my head nodded) So I got to bear my testimony. It was terrifying. You can just tell President Jensen that I don't want to ever speak at Stake Conference when I get home. My heart was beating a thousand miles a minute.
And then on Sunday we had a tornado WATCH at Stake Conference! It was crazy. But good news: there weren't any tornadoes in Springfield or Jacksonville. Just Washington, Illinois. Dodge that bullet.
The rest of the week was pretty normal.
As I read everyone's emails, it sounds like your weeks were pretty normal too, with a few hard trials stashed in there. Just know that Heavenly Father has a plan. For everyone. Not just the members of the church. The Plan of Salvation is for everyone. That's why it is so important that we do missionary work-- so we can help everyone to have the knowledge and understanding of Heavenly Father's good and perfect plan.
