Happy Conference to ME!
Hello my darlings. Mom, I got the package! :) It was a good day. :) I think the apple sauce could have been a little less chunky. But that's just my opinion. Tell Uncle Berk that the jars didn't break. hahaha. As I've thought about how I wanted to share my feelings of conference with all of you, I decided that I would just email some of my favorite one liners. Be prepared. There were a lot of favorites. :) "Come on, you aren't tied down anymore; you are free." "Do you see yourself in the great work of the Lord?" "We were not placed on this earth to walk alone." "Thanks to His love it is possible to change." "Sons of God need daughters of God. Daughters of God need sons of God." "In the service of the Lord, it is not WHERE you serve, but HOW." "The past is to be learned from. Not lived in." "It doesn't matter much where we have been or what we have done but what we are willing to do." "Doubt your doubts BEFORE doubting your faith." "Don't assume you can fix everything, but fix what you can." (I'm pretty sure this one was just for me.) "If you want to teach more, you MUST talk to more people each day." "Even though we are different, the plan of happiness is the same for all of us." "There is not one of us He hasn't cared for." "You won't become a good basketball player by simply watching basketball on TV. Similarly, you won't become converted to the gospel by watching General Conference on TV." "Become the rock the river can't wash away." (another one just for me) "The Lord sees weakness different than rebellion. When the Lord speaks of weakness it is ALWAYS with mercy." "He knows what it takes to become like Him." "You must be an independent witness." "Stellar spirits are often housed in imperfect bodies." "Freedom from self-slavery is true liberation." Seriously, this conference was soooooooo good. We missed the first hour of the Saturday Afternoon Session, but we were lucky enough to be able to hear Elder Holland's talk. I don't know how Heavenly Father does it, but He always seems to tell me exactly what I need to hear during conference. He's the best. We got to watch Conference all over the place this time. We watched the Relief Society Broadcast and the Saturday Morning Session at the church. And then there were technical difficulties Saturday afternoon, so we went to a recent convert's house. Then Sunday Morning we went to another recent convert's house. And then we went to the Relief Society President's house for Sunday Afternoon. This week has been pretty good. We are really working on finding. We have been getting a lot of referrals, which has been great, but we are struggling to turn those referrals into investigators. A lot of them have been given as referrals before, so they're kind of tired of the missionaries... But we're trying. And this last week found out that our zone's "key indicator" for this transfer are street lessons. aka: street contacting. aka: talking to random strangers. aka: possibly the thing that I am the worst at. :/ eh. hahah. The standard of excellence for this indicator is 5 a day. Which doesn't seem like that many. Until you realize that you have to talk to 5 new strangers a day. And YOU have to be the one that embraces the awkward and talks to them. --> that's my comfort zone <-- [here's where they're throwing me] (NOT in the comfort zone.) Welcome to the mission, Leavitt. I guess I'll be putting the whole, "there's no need for the Comforter in the comfort zone" saying to the test for the next nine months. Anyway, I'm glad that you all enjoyed conference! And I'm glad Jonny's wedding went well. I hope you are all well. I love you so much! The gospel is true. I know it. Love, Sister Sadie Leavitt
