SHOP GRAND REOPENING NOVEMBER 1, 2022

TOTW: "There is Power in The Book"; Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr.

This week's Talk of the Week post is going to be a little bit different. I chose

this

talk yesterday during church because about two weeks ago, I decided I wanted to do a little New Year's Resolution Redo.  I know, I know, it's almost November. BUT it's never too late to set a new goal AND accomplish it (or restart an old goal)!

Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr. spoke

about the power of

The Book of Mormon

and I felt that

his talk

went along perfectly with my goal.

At the beginning of each year, I make a resolution to read

The Book of Mormon

in its entirety. Usually I crush this goal-- it's on I put on my list because I know I can accomplish it (you know you have those)-- but this year I have done a HORRIBLE job. Not because I haven't been reading (I'll admit, I've been pretty awful at that as well) but also because I start reading in my regular scriptures, then in a different copy, then on my phone, then back to my regular scriptures and I can't ever remember where I was or what was happening. So it's just been a struggle.

SO I decided that because I still have some 2016 left (not much, but still some) I would start again and this time, I will finish!

I want to invite anyone who wants to, to join in! It's going to be pretty simple (but still a challenge, so be stoked about that): starting on

November 1st

, read at least 9 pages a day and you'll finish by the end of the year!

Now, I know what you're thinking, "I can barely read 9 verses a day, 9 pages a day is SO many!!"

But here's where this is different, we are just reading. You can still mark things as you go, but you don't have to! Read to get the story this time. I've thought a lot about this recently and I can tell you all sorts of facts about the Harry Potter characters (even the Twilight characters and I hated those books) but can I tell you all sorts of facts about the characters in

The Book of Mormon

?? More specifically, can I tell you all sorts of facts about the Savior??

In

his talk

, Elder Curtis said, "

Whether our testimony of the Book of Mormon comes the first time we open it or over a period of time, it will influence us all of our days if we continue to read it and apply its teachings. President Ezra Taft Benson taught: 'There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path.'"

This time, I'm reading

The Book of Mormon

for fun, because I want to know my Savior and know His prophets and I want to regain the presence of the Spirit more fully in my life. I KNOW that by reading

The Book of Mormon

, I will come closer to my Savior, know His words, and bring the Spirit into my life. And I know that this can happen for you too!

I've included two reading charts to help us stay on track. There is a chart of page numbers AND a chart of chapters so you can listen to it if you want to do that as well or instead of reading! To read by
