A Baby for Christmas 2021

A Baby for Christmas 2021

So many couples (1 in 8) all over the world share the desire to announce a pregnancy during the holidays, but due to infertility may never have the chance.

The financial burden that fertility treatments or adoption (or both!!) put on these couples can be overwhelming and devastating.

Help @goodgriefjournals relieve some of that burden for one family this Christmas to try and make their wish of A Baby for Christmas (or even just two pink lines or an announcement!) come true!

Yes, you can nominate yourself. You'll use the same landing page and nomination form as those nominating their loved ones.

What qualifications does someone have to have in order to be nominated?
The only qualifications that are required to be nominated/receive the funds raised is that the nominees are either actively Trying to Conceive (TTC) or Adopt.

Are the nominations open to those who are TTC or trying to Adopt?
Yes! That's exactly who nominations are open to.

Are the nominations open to those who are trying to use a surrogate?
So long as they are actively Trying to Conceive, yes. The funds may be used to pay for the medical bills for surrogacy.

What can the funds be used for?
The funds can be used for medical expenses and medications, home study expenses, adoption application expenses. The funds cannot be used to pay a surrogate or birth mother.

How are the funds transferred?
Good Grief Journals pays the bills on behalf of the recipients. The $10,000 will not be transferred over to the recipients. Good Grief Journals will stay in close contact with the recipients and will pay the medical bills or adoption expenses over the phone.

Will more nominations increase my chances of being selected?
No. The amount of nominations received will NOT increase your chances of being selected. We are looking for sincere nominations from friends/family members of couples who are trying to conceive. Please keep this in mind as you make your nominations.

When will the recipients find out that they were chosen?
The Recipient(s) will be chosen by the Good Grief Team by December 24, 2021.
The Recipient(s) will be notified on December 25, 2021.

Will you share the recipients’ story?
We will only share the recipients' story if we receive full permission from the recipients to share. If we do not receive permission to share their story, we will not be sharing their story. Our main goal is to protect the privacy of the recipients, as trying to grow one's family is a very personal thing.

Do you have to live in the United States to receive the funds?
Yes. Unfortunately, at this time, we are not equipped to host an international fundraiser. Hopefully, we will be able to do so in the future.

The recipient of the funds must be located within the United States, however, nominations may come from anywhere worldwide.

Can you still be the recipient if you don’t need the full $10,000?
No, we are hoping to give the entire $10,000 to one recipient in order to keep things organized.

How are recipients chosen?
The recipients are hand-picked by the Good Grief Team. We read through each and every nomination and pray over each of them.

How does the $1.50 challenge work?
We will be running the $1.50 Challenge four (4) times this Christmas Season. We encourage you to donate at least $1.50 and then share the challenge with those around you. Our 2020 Fundraiser gained the most traction and financial increase through small donations between $1-$10.

I can’t contribute financially but I want to help. What can I do?
We totally understand! If you can't contribute financially, you can help by engaging with our A Baby for Christmas posts on Instagram and Facebook. Engage by liking, commenting, saving and sharing!
